Led by Prof. ZHOU Lijun, Deputy Dean of ZJU’s College of Education, a delegation consisting of 19 ZJU students and 2 faculty escorts, arrived in Novi Sad, Serbia on July 12th, participating a nine-day educational and cultural exchange program held by the University of Novi Sad.
Serbia is an important member of the 17+1 cooperation mechanism between China and Central and Eastern Europe. It is also the first country in Central and Eastern Europe to establish a comprehensive strategic partnership with China. Under the care of the leaders of the two countries and the care of people from all walks of life, the level of bilateral relations between China and Serbia has continuously advanced to a new level. The Novi Sad city is the second largest city in Serbia and also the center of Serbian culture. And University of Novi Sad is one of the largest education and research centers in Central Europe with 14 colleges and 3 research institutes. This summer exchange program in the University of Novi Sad focuses on academic and cultural exchange, aiming to help students get a better understanding of the history and culture of Serbia through lectures, workshops, visiting activities and interactions between faculty and students.
The visiting delegation was warmly welcomed by the faculty and students of University of Novi Sad on July 13th. They held a simple but grand opening ceremony. Professors from University of Novi Sad gave a brief introduction of the University and the Novi Sad city. ZJU student representatives introduced Hangzhou City, Zhejiang University, and College of Education to the Novi Sad side. In the following days, the delegation will attend lectures and workshops offered by the University, visit the Confucius Institute of the University, the Serbian Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Chinese Embassy in Serbia. A basketball friendly exchange match will also be held between the students from both universities, strengthening bilateral tie and friendship.
